How this click speed test works
Pick a duration of 1, 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 seconds, then click in the test area. The timer starts on your first click. A live counter shows your current clicks per second (CPS), and when time is up you get your total clicks, your average CPS and a rating. You can click with a mouse button, tap on a touchscreen or press the space bar or Enter on a keyboard.
CPS is simply clicks divided by seconds. A 10-second run with 70 clicks is 7 CPS. Your best score is saved in your browser's local storage so you can try to beat it, and a Share button copies your result to send to friends. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
How to read the results
- Under 4 CPS. Slower than average, relaxed clicking.
- 4–6 CPS. Typical for a casual user.
- 6–8 CPS. Normal for a gamer with regular practice.
- 8–10 CPS. Fast, and hard to hold for long.
- 10+ CPS. Usually the result of special techniques such as jitter clicking (tensing the arm to vibrate the finger) or butterfly clicking (alternating two fingers on one button).
Short tests produce higher scores than long ones. In 1 or 5 seconds, a burst of speed counts for a lot. In 30 or 60 seconds, fatigue sets in and your average falls. Compare scores only with the same duration.
Tips to click faster
- Pick a comfortable mouse. A light mouse with a short, crisp switch makes fast clicking easier. A worn switch may double-register, which inflates the score.
- Keep your hand relaxed. Tension in your wrist and forearm slows you down and tires you quickly.
- Try different techniques. Normal clicking, jitter clicking and butterfly clicking give different results. Jitter and butterfly clicking can strain your hand, so take breaks.
- Use the right duration. Practice on 10 seconds if you want a realistic number for gaming.
- Keep the screen in view. Click in the same place so you do not lose time moving the pointer.
CPS in games
In Minecraft PvP, CPS matters for hit rates in combat, and many servers watch for cheats such as autoclickers that exceed human limits, often anything above 15 to 20 CPS. Always check the rules of the server, and note that some mice and anti-cheat systems treat jitter or butterfly clicking differently.
About "world records": you will see extraordinary numbers online. Many come from scripts, auto-clickers, special mice or very short runs, and they cannot be verified. Treat them as curiosities. A reliable score is one you can repeat across several attempts.
Why take a click speed test
It is a fun way to measure your reaction and hand speed, track progress over time and test whether a new mouse feels quicker. It can also reveal a faulty button that double-clicks.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good CPS score?
Most people click 6 to 8 times per second. Scores above 10 usually involve jitter or butterfly clicking.
What is CPS?
CPS stands for clicks per second. It is your total number of clicks divided by the test duration in seconds.
What is jitter clicking or butterfly clicking?
Jitter clicking tenses the arm so the finger vibrates and clicks rapidly. Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers on the same button. Both can reach 10 CPS or more but may strain your hand.
Why is my score lower in a longer test?
Your hand tires over time, so average CPS falls as the test gets longer. Compare results only for the same duration.
Can I use the keyboard or a touchscreen?
Yes, you can click with a mouse, tap on a touchscreen or press the space bar or Enter on a keyboard.
Is my best score stored on a server?
No. Your best score is saved only in your browser's local storage and stays on your device.
What is the world record CPS?
There is no official, verified record. Community claims usually cite about 14 to 16 CPS for normal clicking, and much higher numbers when using jitter clicking, drag clicking or special mice, which are often not independently verified.
Are auto clickers allowed in Minecraft?
It depends on the server. Most multiplayer servers ban auto clickers and treat them as cheating, while in a single-player world it is your own choice. Check the rules of the server before using one.
What is drag clicking?
Drag clicking is a technique where you drag a finger across the mouse button so friction produces many fast clicks in a short time. It can reach very high CPS but is hard to control and can wear out the mouse button.
